Hi, everyone I am 43 years old, have been newly diagnosed as type 2 and have recently taken up running. I have so far completed two runs the first was 4 miles which I completed in 40 mins and the second a 10k in 1 hr 4 mins. I am looking for solutions to replenishing energy and combating high sugar levels during and after runs. Look forward to hearing from you all.

Hi Tracy I often run this distance and further and find that carb gels (one every 30 - 40 mins) or carb drink work wonders. The gels are in your system within 15 mins of taking them.

The gels I use are
SIS Go gel

or the High5 gel

and the drink I use

If you want solids

As with all of these things your stomach is a tricky and gentle thing when you put it under stress like a long bike rides or runs and you may find you do not get on with theses but there are so many alternatives on the market you can experiment with them all in training.
